DCCC Chair Rep. Maloney released the following statement in remembrance of the Atlanta-area shootings that killed eight people – including six Asian women:
“My heart goes out to the loved ones of the eight people who were senselessly killed a year ago today, as well as the entire Asian American community in Atlanta and around the country who felt the pain of this targeted attack. This horrifying act of violence was part of a disturbing surge of anti-Asian racism that spiked across the country in recent years, and while Congress has taken action to curb anti-Asian hate crimes, we must do more to support our AAPI neighbors, and end gun violence, hate, and bigotry in every form. I encourage every American to stand with the AAPI community by recommitting ourselves to the fight to Stop Asian Hate and using every tool possible to keep AAPI families safe.”
