DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene released the following statement in recognition of the third anniversary of George Floyd’s murder
“Three years ago, George Floyd’s murder, at the hands of a police officer, tragically underscored the brutal and systemic injustices to which Black and Brown communities have long been subjected. Floyd’s devastating murder sparked a civil rights reckoning and moved Americans of all backgrounds and from every corner of our nation to push their leaders in Congress to vote on meaningful and effective police reforms.
“In the years that have passed, Congressional Republicans have sadly failed to stand with the majority of Americans in making progress on this critical issue, and have instead tried to prevent popular and common sense reforms from being enacted amidst our nation’s urgent need to address generations-old inequality.
“We must honor Americans like George Floyd not just with our words, but with laws, policies, and structural reforms that will create real change as we collectively work to foster a better and safer country for each and every American.”
