“Today, we celebrate ten years of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program – a program that protects hundreds of thousands of young people from being ripped away from the country they know and love and ensures them an opportunity at the American Dream.
“DACA and Dreamers have been under attack for the past decade from Republicans’ assault on immigrant and minority communities. Hundreds of thousands of Dreamers have lived in the United States most of their lives and contribute to their communities and country, but Republicans prefer to tout conspiracy theories and wage racist and dangerous culture wars than open their hearts and their arms.
“America is home for Dreamers – and Democrats are fighting to keep it that way. House Democrats passed the American Dream and Promise Act, legislation that would protect Dreamers and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients and put them on a permanent pathway to citizenship. On this 10 year anniversary of DACA, we recommit ourselves to protecting what makes our country great and pledge to never stop fighting for justice and dignity for Dreamers.”
