After Republicans in the Georgia state legislature passed a new, discriminatory congressional map, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement:
“Georgia Republicans have flagrantly violated both the letter and the spirit of the court’s order to redraw the state’s maps. Their illegal map continues to dilute the voting strength of Black citizens, and the legislature’s defiance is a slap in the face of the Court, the Voting Rights Act, and Georgia voters.
“We intend to vigorously oppose this unlawful map and fight for one that reflects the diversity of the state and ensures every community’s voice is heard in Congress – as the Court has ordered.”
