Today, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement celebrating Labor Day and the impact of America’s unions on behalf of all workers:
“House Democrats are proud to stand in solidarity with unions and workers – the backbone of our economy – and today we recognize the generations of working people who fought to ensure protections like a 40-hour workweek, the minimum wage, and paid overtime.
“Our unyielding belief that a strong middle class is the best way to ensure our nation’s economy works for everyone motivates our continued efforts to fight for policies to protect collective bargaining, create good-paying jobs, and build a fairer economy – one where everyone has equal access to a good education, quality health care, and a home they can afford.
“Instead of supporting working families, Republicans in Congress are obsessed with dismantling laws that create good-paying jobs like the Inflation Reduction Act and CHIPS Act. Democrats will continue to fight against MAGA efforts to reward the wealthy and well-connected at the expense of the middle class.
“We remain committed to electing and supporting leaders in Congress who stand with the labor movement and who fight to empower workers.” |
