DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene shared the following statement celebrating the beginning of Pride Month:
“This Pride Month, House Democrats celebrate and recognize the LGBTQI+ community and the generations of activists who continue to fight for equal rights, opportunity, and a country free from discrimination.
“House Republicans continue to embrace far-right policies and stoke divisions at a time when state and local legislatures have introduced hundreds of laws targeting and discriminating against the LGBTQI+ community. As violence and hatred towards the LGBTQI+ community are on the rise, House Democrats will ensure that these communities do not stand alone. We also stand with trans people against transphobia and hate. All Americans should have freedom for self-determination.
“We are fighting for every family. That’s why, when we were in the majority, we worked with President Biden to support mental health resources, prevent hate crimes, and invest in LGBTQI+ communities. House Democrats are committed to building a better country where all families are safe and have equal access to the opportunities, resources, and support they need to thrive.”
