DCCC Chair Statement Celebrating the Start of Black History Month

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement recognizing the beginning of Black History Month:

“This month, we uplift and celebrate the immense and enduring contributions of Black Americans to our nation. From George Washington Carver to Rosa Parks, Black people have helped change the course of this nation at many critical junctures. In spite of all the important progress made since 1619, we have much more work to do toward building a just and equitable society for all.

“While Republicans continue to attack accurate history and mislead people about the realities of slavery, House Democrats remain committed to addressing economic inequality by investing in Black communities and HBCUs, defending voting rights, and combating discrimination and hate in all its forms. On the campaign trail and in the House of Representatives, we will strive to rise to the example of countless Black community leaders, activists, and lawmakers – this month and every month.”
