DCCC Chair Statement on Anniversary of September 11th Attacks

“On this 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, we honor the memory of the almost 3,000 innocent lives taken in New York, at the Pentagon, and in the fields of Shanksville, Pennsylvania on that terrible day.

“We will always remember the bravery of those who ran towards danger to save others: the passengers who rushed the cockpit on United Flight 93, the firefighters and police officers who raced into the burning towers, the heroes who emerged carrying the wounded and the dead, and those who never did. They were the best of America. 25 years later, the attacks still continue to shape a generation of public servants, service members, and everyday citizens who stepped forward to protect their communities and their country.

“But remembering alone is not enough while survivors and first responders still battle 9/11-related illnesses each year. We owe them nothing short of the absolute devotion they gave to others, and House Democrats will always lead the way and fight for the health care and benefits they need.

“Too many of our fellow Americans are missing from our dinner tables tonight. They continue to give us courage, strength, and resolve, and we will never forget them. They live on in our hearts, our memory, and the legacy they left behind.”
