DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement after 31 vulnerable House Republicans – and a majority of the House Republican Conference – voted to protect serial liar George Santos rather than hold him accountable for lying to and grifting the people of Long Island:
“221 House Republicans just backed George Santos’ lies and fraudulent behavior with this vote, protecting his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Santos misled voters about nearly every aspect of his life – and today, House Republicans defended his con against his constituents. Americans will remember that their representative voted the party line rather than for the people.”
REMINDER: George Santos has been charged with wire fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds, and making false statements to Congress. Last month, Santos announced his intention to run for re-election, and has repeatedly told members of the press he has no plans to leave the U.S. House voluntarily.
