| Following the formal adoption by the Missouri legislature of a new gerrymandered map, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement:
“Despite bipartisan opposition, the majority of Republicans in Jefferson City have once again chosen to ignore the will of Missouri voters.
“In passing a gerrymandered map that breaks up Kansas City and pairing the map with undemocratic legislation that would eliminate the public’s ability to pass ballot initiatives, Missouri Republicans are sending a dreadful but clear message: they don’t work for the people of Missouri, they work for themselves.
“Instead of legislating to lower costs, improve public safety, and create jobs, Missouri Republicans are turning a blind eye to Missourians’ priorities and trying to steal power from the people.
“Missourians hate Republicans’ plot to gerrymander the state. The voters have pushed back to stop state Republicans from their past attempts to ignore the will of the people, and all options, including legal action and the referendum process, are on the table to ensure fair maps”
“We stand ready to fight back against this desperate attempt to undermine the will of voters and rig the elections.” |
