| Following the signing of Florida’s new, further gerrymandered congressional map, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement:
“The American people hate the Republican scheme to rig the midterm elections and, in elections across the country, voters have made that clear. Meanwhile, Republicans have shown they couldn’t care less what the people want.
“Florida’s new illegal map is Republicans’ latest attempt to put self-preservation over persuasion — to shield themselves from their disastrous record of rising costs and broken promises, and to hide from the voters they represent. But their plan will backfire.
“It’s simple. Voters want to choose their representatives, not the other way around. That’s why voters are fighting back on every front from the courts to the ballot box. Florida’s constitution explicitly prohibits partisan gerrymandering, and Florida Republicans will need to defend their actions in court.” |
