| Following Governor Landry’s signing of Louisiana’s new, gerrymandered congressional map, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement:
“Louisiana’s newly gerrymandered congressional map is the latest move in the coordinated, multi-state Republican attempt to rig the midterm elections and deny voters the opportunity to choose their representatives. The map also represents an appalling new milestone in a 50-year effort to gut the Voting Rights Act with the endgame of disenfranchising Black voters in America.
“Across the country, voters have made it clear that they hate Republicans’ desperate scheme to hold onto power. Republicans know that the public is souring on their record of skyrocketing costs and broken promises. As we’ve seen in multiple elections across the country, voters are not standing for this, they’re turning out in massive numbers, and consistently rejecting Republicans at the ballot box.” |
