Following the formal adoption by the Texas legislature of a new gerrymandered map, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement:
“Because of this unprovoked, unwarranted Texas gerrymander, we are seeing Democrats around the country respond and fight back to make sure DC Republicans cannot steal the House Majority. I applaud the Texas Democratic lawmakers who have been at the forefront of this fight and inspired people across the country to stand up and fight back against Republicans’ shameful attempt to cling onto power. Today is not the final word on this gerrymandered map, and the fight to preserve equal and fair representation for everyone in Texas shall continue in the courts.
“Republicans know they are poised to lose the majority next year because of their disastrous record: as prices continue to rise, Americans see that, under Republican leadership, only the wealthiest few are prioritized. House Democrats are ready for the fight ahead and will take back the majority in 2026.”
