As the nation commemorates the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement:
“Nearly 60 years ago, we witnessed one of our nation’s most profound and consequential demonstrations of democracy in action. The March on Washington embodied the unabating spirit of the civil rights movement, and today’s anniversary is an acute reminder that the work for a more just, equitable future continues. To this day, the legacies of the march’s leaders and organizers inspire us to take up their mantle and continue their march in the face of continued attacks on American democracy and freedoms.
“As Democrats, we remain committed to electing and defending leaders who fight for our democracy as well as social and racial justice. It is essential that the promise of liberty and justice for all be more than an ideal – together, we can make it a reality.” |
