DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement after a federal court struck down Georgia’s congressional map under the Voting Rights Act and ordered a new map for the 2024 cycle:
“Georgia Republicans have denied Black voters fair representation in Congress for years. Today’s decision to redraw GA’s congressional map brings Black communities one step closer to the representation they deserve and a congressional delegation that reflects the diversity of the state.
“Despite the progress we have seen in Alabama, states like Georgia remind us that we cannot stop fighting for fair representation. I am grateful for all the advocates and activists who have worked tirelessly to ensure the House of Representatives mirrors the diversity of our nation.”
