DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement after the Republican trifecta refused to address their health care crisis and triggered a government shutdown:
“This is a sad and entirely avoidable day for American families. House Republicans – under orders from Donald Trump – have refused to address the health care crisis they created. Because of them, health care costs will skyrocket for millions of hard working Americans who are already struggling to keep up with rising prices on everything from groceries to utility bills as a result of the disastrous Republican agenda.
“The American people want the GOP health care crisis fixed and costs to go down. But Republicans can’t even be bothered to come to the negotiating table, instead they are running scared and refuse to come to D.C. to do their jobs. House Democrats stand ready to get to work on behalf of the American people, ready to fight to do whatever it takes to stop Republicans from taking away Americans’ health care and lower costs.
“Make no mistake, Republicans own this government shutdown.”
