DCCC Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney released the following statement on the retirement of Rep. Bobby Rush:
“Rep. Bobby Rush is an American icon, who has dedicated his career to fighting for civil rights and racial justice with an impact felt both in his district in the south side Chicago, and across the country. Whether as a young civil rights activist, in the United States Army, as a Pastor at the Beloved Community Christian Church of God in Christ, or representing his constituents in the halls of Congress, Rep. Rush has always served his community with distinction. As a leader on the Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep. Rush has spent his career focused on creating economic opportunities for middle class families and serving as a voice for those left behind. Bobby’s leadership will be missed in Congress, and I wish him well in his next chapter.”
