DCCC Chair Statement on the Second Anniversary of the Overturning of Roe v. Wade

Two years ago, House Republicans applauded the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, taking away a woman’s right to have an abortion. In the two years since then, they have worked to further restrict women’s reproductive freedom.

From working to outlaw abortion medication, voting to allow states to implement abortion bans, to unanimously electing a Speaker who wants to “get the number of abortions to ZERO,” House Republicans have made it clear the Dobbs decision they celebrated was just the first step in their mission to ban abortion nationwide.

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene:
“House Republicans are doing everything they can to chip away at reproductive freedom towards their ultimate goal of passing a nationwide abortion ban. In the two years since Roe v. Wade was overturned, Republican attacks have resulted in devastating consequences for women across the country unable to receive the health care they need. Come November, voters will stand up and turn out to defend their reproductive rights once and for all.”
