DCCC Chair Statement on Utah Judge Selecting a New Map for 2026

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement on a Utah judge rejecting Republicans’ gerrymandered congressional map:

“This ruling is a victory for every Utahn who believes voters – not politicians – should decide who their representatives are. By rejecting a partisan, gerrymandered map, Utah’s Third District Court reaffirmed that power should firmly belong to the people.

“Utahns made it clear nearly seven years ago when they passed Prop 4: they want fair maps that reflect their communities. I’m deeply grateful to the plaintiffs, advocates, and countless others who worked to make sure Utahns’ voices were heard, and I applaud the court’s decision to uphold the will of voters.

“Make no mistake: Across the country, Republicans are rigging congressional maps because they can’t defend their toxic record to gut health care and raise costs for families – all to deliver tax cuts to the wealthy and well-connected. Those efforts will fail – both in the courts and with voters. The DCCC stands ready to help flip the 1st district – and fight for a Democratic House Majority that will put people, not politicians, first.”
