DCCC Chair Statement on Virginia Supreme Court Allowing Virginians to Vote on Fair Maps

Today, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement after the Virginia Supreme Court allowed the redistricting referendum to move forward and confirmed that Virginians – not politicians – can vote to ensure a free and fair congressional map ahead of the 2026 elections:

“Today’s Virginia Supreme Court decision is a major victory for Virginians who deserve the chance to have their voices heard in the face of Republican efforts to rig the midterms in their favor through unprecedented mid-decade gerrymandering. The DCCC has always said that the people will hold Republicans accountable for their attack against fair representation in Congress, and the voters in the Commonwealth can vote ‘Yes’ on the new map to do exactly that. The rule of law is on our side and we are proud to stand with Virginians who refuse to be silenced and will now get the final say at the ballot box.”

Early voting begins this Friday, March 6. Election Day is April 21.
