DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene Builds the Early Case for House Democrats Taking Back the Majority in 2024

This week, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene outlined House Democrats’ outlook for 2024 and made a clear contrast between the extreme House Republican conference stuck on “politics and ideology” and House Democrats who are fighting to deliver for the American people.

This comes as the DCCC announces breaking a fundraising record for January of an off-year, reporting raising over $8 million.

Fox News: House Democrats’ campaign chair accuses Republican majority of being ‘focused on their extreme ideology’

Republicans vs. Democrats:

  • “Republicans ‘are not at all focused on addressing the issues of our families. They’re focused on politics and ideology. They have no plan.’”

  • “People across the country want to see governance work. They want to see us tackle the challenges that we face. They want to understand that we have to come together. And I think with Democratic leadership we did that.”

  • “DelBene highlighted that ‘we had historic legislation pass last Congress’ and that ‘this cycle we’ll see a lot of things implemented across the country,’ which she argued will make a tangible impact on people. ’We want to make sure people understand the work we’ve done to deliver for families and communities across the country.’”

Path to 218:

  • “We’re going to take back the majority, that’s the number one goal.”

  • “We only have five more seats that we need to be in the majority. We have 18 seats across the country that Republicans are in that Biden won in 2020. So clearly, that’s a battlefield right there to start off with.”

  • “If you look at the math there, clearly, there’s an incredible opportunity.”

A united Democratic caucus:

  • “This isn’t just about one person being the DCCC chair. This is about the work that we need to do across the caucus to take back the majority.”

  • “It’s a partnership that I have, not only with our leadership team, but with all members of the Democratic caucus, because it’s going to be the work that all of us do. So I might have one formal position to help do my part. But I think this really is about all of us helping make sure that we support folks across the country.”

The Washington Post: The next battle for the House has already started

Democrats will build on our results and continue to put People over Politics:

  • “We exceeded expectations in the midterms because the American people are with us.”

  • “We did incredibly well, and part of that was our focus on message, the focus that we’ve had in delivering for our communities, on putting people over politics.”
