DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene: House Democrats are “independent-minded” and “will hold GOP accountable”

To kick off the 119th Congress, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene joined MSNBC and Fox News Digital to outline how House Democrats will be independent leaders for battleground districts across the country, hold extreme Republicans accountable, and retake the Democratic House majority in 2026.

“We are going to fight for families, fight to address the issues that are facing the American people, and fight to find a path forward to get legislation passed however we can. But if Republicans are going to focus on extremism and focus on the wealthy and well-connected and not work on policies that are important to the American people, then we’re going to hold them accountable for that when we come up into the elections in the midterms.”

DelBene, who is sticking around for a second straight tour of duty steering the party’s campaign committee, said the 2024 successes are “a good example of what we need to continue to follow heading into 2026.”

“Number one, have great candidates who are independent minded, focused on the needs of their communities,” DelBene said. “Those candidates and their voices were critically important in this election.”
