On Republican plot to rig Texas maps: “If they go down this path, be careful what they ask for, because they’re going to create opportunities for us and Republicans are going to lose their seats.”
In the few weeks since House Republicans passed their Big, Ugly Law – and with and a cascade of public polls revealing how unpopular it is with the public – DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene joined MSNBC and CNN to make the case for how House Republicans’ vote for this monstrous bill will be the defining issue of the midterms and cost them the House majority.
DelBene also warned Republicans against following through on their corrupt plot to further rig Texas’ congressional map of the midterms.
“What we’ve seen over and over from this administration and from Republicans is a big broken promise, and the American people are outraged.”

“They haven’t stood up for their constituents in this Big, Ugly Bill, taking away health care from millions of people across the country. Republicans like David Valadao in California has one of the biggest Medicaid populations in the country. He voted to gut Medicaid.”

“We only need three more seats to take back the House. When we recruit great candidates who are going to be talking about the issues, we win. We know that happened even in a tough cycle last time. We know that’s true right now, and Republicans have broken promises over and over to the American people. They’re seeing that, and we’re going to hold them accountable for that.”

“Republicans are running scared. That’s why they realize they can’t win just by talking about their policies, because their policies are terrible. So they’re trying to rig the system. They’re trying to change the maps, and Donald Trump basically ordered folks in Texas to try to change the maps. But they should be careful what they wish for. When they move those maps around, they’re going to make more Republicans vulnerable too, and we’re going to compete in every single one of those districts. Republicans are going to lose their jobs.”
“People across the country have seen the kind of broken promises from Trump and Republicans in Congress over and over again, since the beginning of this year. Promising to lower costs for American families, and yet this Big, Ugly Bill, ripping health care away from families, food assistance, raising costs for families. Add in that tariffs that have been raising costs for families. Broken promise on immigration. He said he was going to go after the worst of the worst, and yet, now we see a scenario where communities are scared, no due process. The American people are reacting. They’re outraged, and they’re scared.”

“We picked up seats last cycle, overperformed across the country because we had great candidates who were authentic and independent-minded, talking about the issues that matter on the ground and coming to Washington, DC, to get things done for the American people. That’s what people want.

“Republicans are just falling in line with Donald Trump over and over again, giving up their authority as a co-equal branch of government. The American people hate that.”

“Let’s talk about Texas. The Republicans are running scared. They know they can’t win on policy, so they figure they have to rig the system.”

“If Republicans go down this path, we are going to make sure that we are standing up for working families, that we are standing up to make sure that Americans’ voices are heard. Again, if they go down this path, be careful what they ask for, because they’re going to create opportunities for us and Republicans are going to lose their seats.”
