Today, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement celebrating Pride Month:
“Pride month is a powerful reminder of the enduring struggle for equality in America. House Democrats stand alongside the LGBTQ+ community across our country as we celebrate decades of hard fought victories and the brave generations who fought to defend the freedom to love whom they choose.
“This month is also an acute reminder, however, of the very real threats posed by those who seek to strip away fundamental rights and freedoms. Today, far too many extreme Republican lawmakers embrace the dangerous rhetoric of fear, demonizing our friends, family and neighbors who simply seek to feel welcomed, supported, and loved. The renewed attacks on the LGBTQ+ community play against our democratic values and seek to divide communities and the nation at a time when we must stand together in the name of freedom.
“House Democrats refuse to back down. With enduring resolve, we will work to elect leaders who will protect LGBTQ+ communities and defend equality for all.”
