DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement after House Democrats clinched 218 seats to take back the majority:
“The American people have spoken and they decisively said they’ve had enough of broken promises from House Republicans – and are ready for new leadership in Congress.
“Powered by broad coalitions and a deep desire by the public to have leaders focused on serving the needs of everyday Americans, not the billionaires or special interests, Democratic candidates across the country surged to victory delivering a message of fighting for an affordable America and rooting out the culture of corruption that’s defined two years of Republican rule.
“Under the historic leadership of a Speaker Hakeem Jeffries, the People’s House is going to get back to the long-ignored work of actually making life better for the American people. House Democrats will fight to lower costs, make health care affordable for every American, and end the reckless war in the Middle East. We know how precious the trust given to us by the voters is, and as soon as the 120th Congress gavels into session – we get to work.”
