DCCC Chairman Luján Announces Two New Additions to Red to Blue Program

R2B

DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján today announced the addition of two candidates to the Red to Blue program: Ruben Kihuen (NV-04) and newly announced candidate Stephanie Murphy (FL-07). This Red to Blue designation indicates that these individuals will run top-notch campaigns through election day, putting them in an excellent position to join the Democratic caucus. Beyond promising campaign strengths, Kihuen and Murphy have demonstrated the ability to fight on behalf of hardworking people in their districts, keep them safe, and make sure that the economy is working for everyone.

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) and Congressman Denny Heck (WA-10) are co-chairs of the Red to Blue program. With these additions, 36 districts and candidates are part of the Red to Blue or Emerging Races programs. There will be additional candidates added to Red to Blue in the future.

Ruben Kihuen has dedicated his career to giving everyone the same opportunities he and his immigrant family were given in Nevada. Ruben will take that spirit to Congress to ensure every family gets a fair shot. Ruben knows how to get real results and I have full confidence he will run a strong campaign to unseat Congressman Cresent Hardy, who couldn’t be more wrong for the people of Nevada’s 4th Congressional District,” said Chairman Ben Ray Luján.

Through hard work and perseverence, Stephanie Murphy has achieved the American dream and will bring a unique perspective to Washington on behalf of Florida’s 7th Congressional District. Thanks to her expertise in business and national security, and her perspective as a mother, Stephanie will run a campaign focused on bringing new energy to Congress, in order to expand opportunities for children and keep families safe at home,” said Chairman Ben Ray Luján.
