“After Ted Cruz’s double-digit win over Donald Trump in Wisconsin, it’s clear that the Republican Party has entered into a new level of uncertainty and chaos. In what appears to be a race to the bottom for approval amongst female, millennial, Hispanic and independent voters, Cruz and Trump truly offer the two worst-case scenarios for congressional Republicans.
“And let’s be clear: potentially propping up a new nominee in Cleveland is not only a complicated long-shot, it would ignore the will of millions of Republican voters, enrage their base, and harm their down-ballot candidates by suppressing turnout in November.”
