DCCC Chairman Rep. Maloney released the following statement in celebration of National Coming Out Day:
“National Coming Out Day is about ensuring LGBTQ+ Americans have the support and empowerment they deserve to share their truth, and be celebrated while doing so.
“As the first openly gay lawmaker to lead the DCCC, I’m committed to protecting a Democratic majority that will continue building a nation more inclusive and accepting than ever before, and I’ll keep fighting for a country where every LGBTQ+ person feels safe and welcome.”
National Coming Out Day began 33 years ago on the anniversary of the National March on Washingon for Lesbian and Gay Rights. Chairman Maloney is the first openly gay person to chair the DCCC and the first openly gay Member of Congress to represent New York.
