DCCC Chairman Rep. Maloney released the following statement in celebration of LGBTQ Pride Month:
“Pride Month is a time for the LGBTQ community to celebrate who we are, and for the nation to recognize the important milestones we’ve achieved thanks to those who came before us.
“As the first openly gay lawmaker to lead the DCCC, I’m committed to ensuring our party continues to fight for the LGBTQ community. The record number of anti-transgender bills introduced by Republicans in state legislatures this year shows we must continue to take the movement that started on the streets of the West Village over 50 years ago and channel it into real change, real progress, and real justice – for all.
“I encourage everyone to join us in working toward equality and celebrating a safe and empowering Pride Month.”
Chairman Maloney is the first member of the LGBTQ community to serve as the Chairman of the DCCC and is the first openly gay Member of Congress to represent New York.
