Today, DCCC Chairman Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney released the following statement regarding the passing of his trail blazing colleague, Rep. Alcee Hastings:
“Congressman Alcee Hastings was a trailblazer who selflessly dedicated his life to serving the people of South Florida. A champion in the movement for civil rights, he led the fight to desegregate schools in South Florida. During his nearly three decades in Congress, he was tireless in his commitment to end homelessness in America. May his dedication to service and the many people he inspired be a comfort to his friends and loved ones in the celebration of his life.”
