DCCC Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney released the following statement after Rep. G.K. Butterfield announced he will not seek re-election:
“From his start as a civil rights attorney fighting for voting rights, to his rise as a US Army veteran, associate justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court and Member of Congress, G.K. Butterfield has dedicated his life to serving North Carolina and fighting for the American people. Through his nine terms in Congress, he has served as Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and championed affordable healthcare, education, veterans, and investments in rural communities, all of which will leave a lasting impact. I join my colleagues in thanking G.K. for his many years of public service and wish him and his family the best in this next chapter.”
