“For more than three decades, as a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, secretary of state, and congressman, Rep. Jim Langevin has served the people of Rhode Island with distinction. As the first quadriplegic to serve in the United States House of Representatives, Jim has been a leader in fighting on behalf of the disabled community. His belief that everyone deserves a fair opportunity to make the most of their talents has been an example not just to me and my colleagues, but our country. His work in passing the Affordable Care Act, embracing medical research, and ensuring job training programs are funded underscore what we who work with Jim every day know – when he fights, he delivers. I will miss working with Jim and join my colleagues in thanking him for his decades of public service.”
