DCCC Chairwoman Bustos Names Carolyn Bourdeaux To ‘Red To Blue’ Program

“Red to Blue” is a highly competitive and battle-tested DCCC program arming top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support

DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos announced today that Carolyn Bourdeaux has been named to the DCCC’s highly competitive Red to Blue program. Bourdeaux’s addition to the program comes after she won a six-way GA-07 primary outright and Democrats outvoted Republicans 57%-43%.

Bourdeaux has earned a spot on the Red to Blue program by surpassing aggressive goals for grassroots engagement, local support, campaign organization and fundraising. Beyond her record of service, protecting and rebuilding Georgia’s economy during the Great Recession, and demonstrated ability to build a winning campaign infrastructure, Bourdeaux has an authentic message that connects with voters in Georgia’s 7th Congressional District and robust support from the diverse communities she aims to serve.

“Carolyn Bourdeaux worked with both parties to steer Georgia through its last economic crisis, and her leadership is desperately needed as Georgians navigate through a deadly pandemic and an economic emergency,” DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos said. “After watching her parents struggle to pay for their health care, it is personal to Carolyn when she sees the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs and attempts by people like Rich McCormick to take away protections for people living with pre-existing conditions. After coming within 433 votes of winning in 2018 and scaring Rep. Rob Woodall into an early retirement, Carolyn Bourdeaux is the leader who will flip this diverse and quickly-changing district from red to blue in November.”

Red to Blue is a highly competitive and battle-tested DCCC program that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to develop strong campaigns. Additionally, through Red to Blue the DCCC provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings and more.
