Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Cheri Bustos issued the following statement on the results of the primary election in Missouri’s First Congressional District:
“Congressman Lacy Clay and his family have served the people of St. Louis for nearly 50 years. In that time, he has been a fierce advocate for the needs of his community and has tackled the vicious racism and discrimination that redlining enforced in American communities across our country. He has served St. Louis well and I join many in thanking him for his service.
“Cori Bush ran a strong campaign, inspired by the grassroots energy moving through America’s streets, from Ferguson, MO, across our country. I look forward to working with Cori in the years to come as our Democratic majority continues to put the issues of working Americans front and center.”
