Following Representative Nita Lowey’s announcement that she wouldn’t seek another term in Congress, DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos issued the following statement, thanking Rep. Lowey for her service:
“For more than three decades, Representative Nita Lowey has been a fierce advocate for families all across New York and the country, and we are deeply grateful for her service. As the first woman to head the powerful Appropriations Committee she has been entrusted with the great duty of investing in communities across our country—a task she has fulfilled brilliantly. And as the first woman to chair the DCCC, I am proud to follow in her footsteps.
“Nita is a mentor and a friend, and I wish her the best in her next chapter. She leaves a legacy of service that will continue to inspire others to step up to the plate and serve their communities.”
