DCCC Congratulates Florida Man Jim Oberweis on New Endorsements from Hometown Lawmakers

Oberweis infamously claims his $2 million Florida Gulf Coast condo as his primary residence. He’s set to raise funds with Florida lawmakers next week.

Picture your perfect Florida vacation.

Warm, sandy beaches. Palm trees. And best of all: Illinois State Senator Jim Oberweis.

In 2014, an NBC Chicago investigation exposed Oberweis claiming a Florida Gulf Coast penthouse condo as his primary residence. That earned Oberweis his esteemed moniker of “Illinois’ foremost political blunderer.”

After all, it’s a good life for Jim Oberweis in the Sunshine State. Inside the friendly confines of his Bonita Springs neighborhood, nobody knows Jim as the serial political loser who’s run for Illinois governor, U.S. Senate and U.S. House six times and lost six times.

Next week, Oberweis is set to rub elbows with some fellow Floridians at a “high-dollar fundraiser” in Washington, D.C.: Sen. Marco Rubio and Congressman Francis Rooney (FL-19).

And in case you were wondering, yes, Oberweis’ condo in Bonita Springs, Fla. sits smack dab in the middle of Rooney’s congressional district.

“In the Book of Matthew, Scripture says ‘where your treasure is, there your heart will be also,’” DCCC spokesperson Avery Jaffe said. “In the book of Jim Oberweis, that means leaving Illinois behind to save hundreds of thousands of dollars on your taxes.

“We welcome Jim’s inevitable transformation into a full-blown Floridian after he loses his seventh election next year.”
