DCCC Expands the Battlefield in 2026 with New Offensive Targets

House Democrats add five more offensive opportunities in California, Texas, Florida, and North Carolina

Today, the DCCC unveiled five new offensive additions to House Democrats’ Districts in Play for the 2026 cycle.

The new offensive targets reflect an increasingly positive political environment where Democrats are overperforming in special elections by more than 13% on average, with special election overperformance in congressional races at 17%. Democrats won every single competitive congressional district in New Jersey and Virginia last month, and the American public is souring on Republicans’ record of broken promises and tired of rising costs on everything.

In April, the DCCC kicked off the cycle with an offensive map of 35 Districts in Play – an initial, expansive list that was already larger than at the start of the 2024 cycle.

Today’s announcement includes three districts in states where Republicans attempted to rig the midterms through extreme gerrymanders. These new districts are illustrative of both the backlash amongst the public over Republicans’ redistricting schemes and the public’s anger at their failure to address affordability while passing policies that benefit only the wealthiest few.

“In election after election this year, voters have sent a simple message: they are ready for change. The American people are souring on Republicans’ broken promises to lower costs and their reckless policies that are making everything more expensive from groceries to health care, housing, and utilities,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene. “The DCCC is confident we can win anywhere, and we are full speed ahead while Republicans are running scared. House Democrats have the better message, stronger candidates, and as the data shows, the American people are on our side.”

Reminder: Despite a challenging political environment in 2024, House Democrats overperformed across the country, netting additional seats and holding House Republicans to the smallest majority in nearly a century. With fewer vulnerable Democratic incumbents on the battlefield this cycle, the massive underperformance by Republicans in election after election coast-to-coast, and a wildly unpopular agenda that continues to get more unpopular by the minute, House Democrats are decidedly on offense.

Additionally, the DCCC has launched nominee fund pages for the new additions to the map, providing grassroots donors the ability to contribute now to the eventual Democratic nominee in Districts In Play.
