Mobile Billboard Reminds Voters of Katko’s Vote for GOP Tax Scam and Highlights President Trump’s Tweet Saying Katko Could Have Fought to Protect the State and Local Tax Deduction
The DCCC unveiled a mobile billboard this week highlighting Congressman John Katko’s vote for the GOP Tax Scam of 2017. The Tax Scam raised taxes on thousands of New Yorkers when the State and Local Tax Deduction was capped. Digital ads will also be targeted to New York’s 24th district.
The mobile billboard can be spotted in downtown Syracuse.
The negative impacts of the GOP Tax Scam were magnified for working people in areas with high state and local taxes like Central New York.
“Every day the people of Central New York think about how they will pay their bills, support their families, and afford health care—and now they will be reminded that Congressman John Katko doesn’t share those worries, and instead voted to give giant corporations billions while raising taxes on middle class families. Katko has the wrong priorities,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett. “Even Donald Trump can’t believe Congressman Katko supported such an obviously disastrous bill.”
“The GOP Tax Scam put millionaires ahead of the middle class and partisanship ahead of solutions. Now John Katko will no longer be able to hide from his terrible vote.”
Donald Trump, a native New Yorker, tore into Katko and his fellow New York Republicans for rolling over and allowing the SALT property tax deduction to be capped, exploding taxes for thousands of hardworking New Yorkers.
“They didn’t even put up a fight against SALT — could have won,” Trump wrote, referring to the $10,000 cap slapped on state and local tax deductions for federal income taxes in order to pay for even deeper tax cuts for corporations.
