DCCC Kicks Off “On The Dirt Road Again” Rural Tour in North Carolina

As part of the first stop of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Rural “On the Dirt Road Again” Tour, the DCCC and North Carolina Democratic Party brought together over 15 local leaders, party leaders, and local grassroots organizers from across North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District.

Farmer and Red to Blue candidate Jamie Ager, who’s running to represent NC-11, kicked off the summit with a call for leaders to focus on Americans’ everyday needs — from high costs to natural disaster relief. The event also included training and strategy sessions throughout the day aimed at mobilizing rural voters.

The kickoff is part of the DCCC’s efforts to energize rural Democratic infrastructure and engage rural voters early and often in the fight to retake the House Majority.

REMINDER: The DCCC’s first rural ads of the cycle targeted voters impacted by the Republican health care crisis that’s decimating rural health care.

DCCC Rural Engagement Manager Jacob Burg:
“Republicans in Congress have pushed for the largest health care cuts in history, price-hiking tariffs, and foreign wars driving up the price of gas and fertilizer, all while failing to deliver on local needs like disaster relief for communities in Western North Carolina. Rural America is ready for change, and the DCCC is working with rural leaders and voters to support their efforts to hold Republicans, like Chuck Edwards, accountable in November.”

First-Vice Chair of the McDowell County Democrats Anna Caldwell:
“As the First-Vice Chair of the McDowell County Democrats in NC-11, I see every day the urgent need for better leadership in Congress. That’s why I was thrilled to take part in the Western North Carolina Leadership Summit. I appreciate the DCCC’s commitment to rural communities like mine, and it shows when we invest in year-round infrastructure, prioritize local needs, and show up consistently, we can build lasting trust and momentum to win back rural areas.”
