DCCC Launches Ad Against Damaged, Desperate Dan Donovan

Hours after Congressman Dan Donovan spent significant money to beat a convicted felon and escape the Republican primary in New York’s 11th Congressional District, the DCCC launched its new digital ad, “Damaged.” The 30-second ad highlights how Donovan has destroyed his reputation and image in an effort to save his political skin, revealing himself as the spineless, calculating politician that he is.

The ad shows:

  • Donovan pleading with Steve Bannon to “look at my record; I’ve supported the president 90% of the time with my votes.”
  • Donovan bragging about his many votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
  • President Trump praising Donovan for voting for the GOP Tax Scam.
  • Donovan holding up portraits of President Trump and Vice President Pence and promoting his legislation to require mounting their photographs in post office, an act so desperate that Grimm himself quipped, “I actually felt bad for him. I did. I actually felt that he’s embarrassing himself.”

“It’s not often we agree with Michael Grimm, but he was right in saying that Donovan was ‘moving to his right’ to save his political skin,” said DCCC Spokesman Evan Lukaske. “Thanks to the damaging Republican primary, Donovan has shown Staten Island and Brooklyn voters that he is exactly what they hate—a spineless politician who will say and do anything to get elected.”

The ad is running on YouTube as of Wednesday, June 27.
