DCCC Launches Call Campaign Targeting Curbelo

As Schock Investigation Deepens, Curbelo Still Refuses to Return Tainted Contributions

As the Federal investigation into disgraced former Congressman Schock deepens, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has launched a calling campaign so voters can tell One-Term-Wonder Congressman Curbelo to do the right thing and finally return $10,000 in contributions from Schock’s leadership PAC. Curbelo has refused to return Schock’s money even after his fellow Florida Republican Congressman, David Jolly, agreed to donate the $5,000 he received from Schock to charity “in an abundance of good faith.”

The excuse given by Curbelo for his refusal – that the money had already been spent– was peculiar given Curbelo spent $10,000 to repay himself at the end of last year. Of course, when it comes to his campaign finances, excuses are nothing new for Curbelo who has been questioned and fined by the Federal Elections Commission himself for omitting special interests contributions from his campaign finance reports.

“Whether failing to disclose his lobbying clients or refusing to return money from a disgraced politician under investigation, Congressman Curbelo has a disturbing pattern of shirking responsibility,” said DCCC spokesperson Matt Thornton. “South Florida deserves better than Curbelo’s shady politics, and we want to help ensure voters hold him accountable.”
