| Less than 48 hours after New York’s primary election, the DCCC is announcing its first general election digital ad campaign in New York’s 17th Congressional District.
The digital ad targets vulnerable Republican Mike Lawler for his long, lucrative history of self-dealing — funnelling more than $720,000 from political groups, nonprofits, and even his own campaigns into Checkmate Strategies, a political consulting firm he co-founded and co-owned even while serving in Congress.
The digital ad will reach targeted voters on Meta, is backed by an initial five-figure investment, and will run for two full weeks.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Democrats’ path back to the House majority runs straight through NY-17, and we are going on offense early to make sure Hudson Valley voters know the stakes in November. Shady political operative Mike Lawler has spent his entire career turning public office into a personal payday while selling out his constituents again and again — and Democrats are going to make sure voters hear about his self-dealing and corruption from now until election day.”
