Cable Blitz To Run on MSNBC & CNN Across Country — Six-Figure, Three-Week Radio Ad Campaign in 11 Districts
While Republicans Control Congress, Your Healthcare is At Risk
Immediately following the expiration of the reconciliation bill that would have allowed the repeal of the Affordable Care Act with a simple majority, Chairman Ben Ray Luján announced a national cable television blitz and six-figure 3-week radio buy in eleven congressional districts to warn voters that access to affordable healthcare is at risk as long as Republicans control Congress.
Congressional Republicans’ assault on our healthcare is ongoing, and Speaker Ryan has already indicated that House Republicans will not be deterred in their effort to rip away Americans’ healthcare and increase costs this election cycle. Never Stop is the DCCC’s first national television advertisement of the 2018 cycle, and Waiting is the largest radio ad to date. The investment makes clear that House Republicans’ failure to repeal the Affordable Care Act before September 30th is no cause for comfort, and the American people must hold their Republican representatives accountable.
“House Republicans will stop at nothing to rip away affordable healthcare coverage from their constituents, and we are all at risk as long as they control the House,” said DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján. “It should be no cause for comfort that House Republicans have failed to repeal our healthcare, increase out-of-pocket costs, and go after people with pre-existing conditions thus far, as Speaker Ryan has already indicated that this personal assault will continue in the coming months.”
Luján continued, “This initiative – the first of its kind for the DCCC this cycle – demonstrates that while Democrats work to increase access to affordable health insurance for hardworking Americans, House Republicans will never stop trying to rip it away.”
The Committee’s sizeable investment sets the stage for the healthcare debate between Democrats and Republicans for the remainder of the 2018 midterm cycle. A new poll conducted by GQRR and GBA on behalf of the DCCC from September 12 -18, 2017, shows that Democrats have a significant advantage when it comes to trust on the issue of healthcare. Congressional Democrats lead President Trump by 15 points (57-42) and Congressional Republicans by 11 points (55-44).

The television ads prominently featuring Speaker Paul Ryan and will start running today on MSNBC and CNN, including on Morning Joe, the Rachel Maddow Show, and The Lead on CNN. The same DCCC poll showed Ryan’s favorability-unfavorability at -28 (20% to 48%) nationwide. His numbers, and the popularity of the Republican Congress, have plummeted since House Republicans began trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act. The DCCC will run :15 second ads on YouTube and Facebook to bolster the television ads.
The radio ads start this week, and will run for three weeks during prime drive times in 11 Republican-held districts – a sizeable, six-figure persuasion campaign. Voters in TX-23 and CA-21 will also hear the ad on the top Spanish radio stations.
