Today the DCCC launched a new ad holding nine vulnerable Republicans accountable for voting against the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. The bill contained numerous commonsense reforms and passed the House with a bipartisan vote this evening. The bill that Republicans voted against today would:
- Prohibit racial and religious profiling from federal, state, and local law enforcement and mandates training on profiling
- Save lives by banning chokeholds and carotid holds
- Ban no-knock warrants in drug cases
- Limit military equipment on American streets
- Require Police to wear body cameras
- Hold police officers accountable who abuse the rules
- Invest in community-policing grants
- Make lynching a federal crime
- Increase transparency by creating a nationwide police misconduct registry

The ad is targeted to persuadable voters and will play on YouTube in targeted districts through July 2nd.
DCCC Spokesperson Robyn Patterson released the following statement:
“Far too often in America, unarmed and innocent Black men and women are killed by police. We need accountability for officers who kill, and we need to change the culture of silence and complicity where officers protect their own rather than the public they serve. Once again, Republicans have chosen their party in Washington over everyday Americans and turned their back on the demands for justice and reform by the American people.”
