The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee today released two new television ads in Florida’s Second Congressional District: “Gamble” and “Behind the Scenes.” Both spots will begin running today in both the Tallahassee and Panama City media markets.
“Gamble” features a testimonial from a North Florida small business owner, highlighting how Congressman Steve Southerland’s support for privatizing Social Security is out-of-touch with North Florida’s values – forcing seniors to gamble with their retirement on the stock market with Congressman Southerland’s Wall Street backers.
“Behind the Scenes” uses video of Congressman Southerland describing his life in Washington that is out-of-touch with North Florida – and highlights his first class flights, his complaint that his $174,000 taxpayer-funded salary is not enough, and how Congressman Southerland even pushed to keep the congressional gym open after shutting down the government.
SCRIPT OF DCCC IE AD “GAMBLE”:
Kris Hebert: I run a home sewing business.
The recession hit a little bit hard…I lost everything financially.
So really all I have is Social Security.
It’s very important. I paid for it. I should be able to get it back.
With Steve Southerland wanting to privatize Social Security, it’s really scary.
He’s taken $100,000 from Wall Street and he wants to give them our retirement money and gamble it away.
We just cannot trust Steve Southerland to protect our Social Security.
