DCCC Launches Virtual Action Center To Mobilize Volunteers During COVID-19 Pandemic

Launch Coincides With A Nationwide Day Of Action Across The House Battlefield

With voter enthusiasm already approaching November 2018 levels and millions of Americans looking for ways to fight back against Republican mismanagement of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launched the March Forward Virtual Action Center – a one-stop shop for mobilizing Democratic enthusiasm for Democratic House campaigns.

The Virtual Action Center will serve as the first access point for volunteers to get involved in virtual phone banks, voter registration drives and house parties while regularly-scheduled in-person campaign activity is suspended.

VOLUNTEER.DCCC.ORG will launch with a nationwide Day Of Action on May 1 where the DCCC will drive volunteers from across the country to use the Virtual Action Center to engage with campaigns across the House battlefield.

“Millions of Americans are sitting at home flipping between news stories about a President who wants them to inject disinfectant into their bodies and Congressional Republicans fighting to block funding for hospitals,” DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos said. “We’re giving those Americans a way to change the channel on Washington Republicans – and they can do it from their sofa.”

In addition to expanding its virtual campaigning efforts, the DCCC is also using its resources to file litigation to ensure Republicans can’t block young people or people of color from voting. The DCCC – along with the DSCC and partners- have made a more than $10 million commitment towards an aggressive legal strategy to take down barriers to the ballot. The DCCC recently filed litigation to expand vote by mail and protect voters’ safety in South Carolina and Nevada. Prior to the COVID-19 epidemic, the DCCC and partners have filed voting rights litigation in Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, South Carolina and Texas.
