DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján today announced that former small business owner and Broome County legislator Kim Myers (NY-22) has earned a spot in the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s (DCCC) highly-competitive Emerging Races program, indicating that the campaign is off to a promising start and on track to achieve full status in the DCCC’s Red to Blue program in the future.
Since announcing her run for Congress a month ago, Myers has surpassed aggressive fundraising, organization and infrastructure goals, and demonstrated the ability and commitment to serving the needs of Upstate New York and put jobs before politics. Myers has already earned an endorsement from the Oneida County Democratic Committee.
“Kim Myers is a distinguished leader in her community with a proven record of delivering results for hardworking Upstate families. Since launching only a month ago, Kim Myers has already put together a strong and smart campaign that has earned her a spot on our Emerging Races program,” said DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján. “As Kim Myers continues to highlight her business experience and record of getting the job done for Upstate New York families and businesses, I am confident that voters will elect Myers for Congress in New York’s 22nd congressional district this November.”
With today’s addition, 37 districts and candidates are part of the Red to Blue or Emerging Races programs. There are 16 candidates selected for Red to Blue, plus 5 districts with multiple Democratic candidates that have also qualified for Red to Blue. The Emerging Races aspect of the program now has 14 candidates and 2 Emerging Districts, where campaigns are on track and working hard to put seats in play. There will be additional candidates added to Red to Blue in the future.
