| Today, the DCCC announced a five-figure investment as part of its Black outreach campaign, launching new radio and print ads to reach out to Black voters in critical battleground districts earlier than ever. The first radio and print ads will reach Black voters in Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads to communicate the historic results House Democrats have delivered to their families and communities. This outreach campaign is the DCCC’s earliest-ever investment in reaching Black voters with paid media.
“This investment echoes our commitment to reaching out to and investing in Black communities earlier than ever,” said DCCC Chairman Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney. “House Democrats delivered the strongest year of economic growth in decades, passing relief for Black businesses and getting folks back to work in record numbers. But we all know there’s much more work to be done. House Democrats are focused on fighting for the issues that matter most to Black Americans. These ads make clear to Black voters that Democrats are working for them, and reminds them of the immense power they hold as battleground voters.”
The DCCC’s new radio ads, “We Can’t Turn Back” and “We Did That”, highlights the positive impact Democrats’ American Rescue Plan had on Black families, workers, and businesses, and reminds listeners that every single Republican voted against it. “We Can’t Turn Back” also hits Republicans for their efforts to make it harder for Black voters at the polls and their refusal to support meaningful police reform. The print ad, “We Did That!”, outlines the ways House Democrats have delivered for Black families, including the ground-breaking Child Tax Credit.
“Republicans have turned their backs on Black families every chance they’ve had, voting against efforts to lower costs, expand affordable child care, and get people back to work,” said DCCC Senior Advisor for Black Engagement Christale Spain. “It’s so important for Democrats to start drawing a clear contrast between the work they’ve done to help Black families, and the serious threat that House Republicans present to our communities. House Democrats have a good agenda for Black America, and it’s on us to bring a powerful and convincing message to our party’s most powerful voting bloc.”
The outreach campaign is part of the DCCC’s Building Our Base Project, a long-term strategy, with an initial investment of $30 million, to empower House Democrats’ efforts to further build stronger, genuine relationships with Black, Latino, and AAPI communities across the nation to help power Democratic victories in the midterms and beyond.
The project prioritizes outreach to radio, digital, and print media outlets that focus on reaching Black, Latino, and AAPI audiences to highlight how House Democrats have delivered for families of color.
