Today, the DCCC launched a six-figure digital ad to reach South Asian voters, emphasizing the dire importance of electing Democrats this November to protect women’s reproductive freedom. The ad is a part of the committee’s effort to reach voters of color on the issue of protecting women’s access to life-saving abortion care.
The ad, titled “My Only Wish,” follows a father mourning the loss of his daughter from pregnancy complications left untreated in Republicans’ post-Roe America. The ad will kick off on digital platforms in battleground districts across New York, Washington state and Virginia. It’s a part of the DCCC’s Building Our Base Project, a long-term strategy, with an initial cycle investment of $30 million, to strengthen the committee’s relationships with voters of color across the country.
“South Asian American voters know how important freedom is– including the freedom to receive life-saving abortion care. Democrats are fighting to keep private medical decisions in the hands of women and their doctors, not Republicans in Washington,” said Allen Chen, DCCC Senior Advisor for AAPI Engagement. “This ad reminds AAPI voters that the right to choose is on the ballot this year, and that voting Democrat may save the lives of women in our communities.”
Digital Ad: “My Only Wish”
Father: From the moment you were born, I couldn’t imagine loving anything more than you.
You’ve always been so fearless, and I’ve always been the proudest dad.
When you went off to college I hoped you would find your passion and maybe a nice boy.
After you got married, I couldn’t wait to be a grandfather.
I wouldn’t change any of it…
My only wish for you, is that you still had the right to make your own choices.
