The DCCC released a new TV ad in the race for NY-18, “Shadows,” highlighting the serious and dangerous threat Colin Schmitt presents to New Yorkers’ abortion rights.
The ad calls out Colin Schmitt for voting against protecting the right to an abortion. As Republicans push extreme abortion bans and threaten to criminalize women and doctors, the ad highlights the dangers of electing an anti-choice extremist like Schmitt to Congress.
The ad – the first to run in NY-18 from the DCCC IE – is airing in New York beginning today and is part of the committee’s previously announced investments in key battleground districts.

“Assemblyman Colin Schmitt voted against protecting our right to abortion in New York.
“Our right to reproductive freedom is under assault.
“We are potential criminals now.
“States are prosecuting women and their doctors, and if he gets to Congress, Schmitt will ally with those extremists who want to criminalize abortion nationwide.
“Even in the cases of rape, incest, or when our lives depend on it.
“With so much on the line, we need to make sure Colin Schmitt is not our next voice in Congress.”
